Flower Care Guide
Please take care of your unique Botanical creation…
At Native Botanical we are very passionate and particular about the flowers and foliages we use, where they come from, and how they are treated.
Our flowers and foliages arrive in to our studios fresh daily, from Australian growers as committed as we are to ensuring our customers enjoy their unique creation for as long as possible.
When they arrive, each stem in every bunch is inspected – anything less than perfect is discarded immediately.
We spend hours conditioning our flowers and foliages – all are placed in filtered water, removing any impurities, and we use premium flower food to give them the nutrients they need and would have received if they were still attached to the plant. We cut and re-cut their ends so that they can drink continuously.
Those flowers and foliages that are native to tropical locations are kept at ambient temperatures, whilst those that originate and flourish in cooler climates are refrigerated.
So now that you are aware of just a few of the things we do to care for your beautiful creation before you receive it, we would like you to do a few simple things which will mean you can enjoy your gift longer – after all, someone has made a special effort to show they care about you.
Caring for your cut flowers:
If you have been given one of our beautiful, signature bouquets or wraps, you have also been given a sachet of premium flower food. Fill a deep vase with lukewarm water and add the flower food we have provided. Ensure the vase is clean, as bacteria harms flowers. If you run out of flower food you can substitute with a teaspoon of lemon juice, or bleach.
Take approximately 2cm off all stems, making a slanted cut with sharp scissors and remove leaves that will fall below the waterline.
Avoid direct sunlight, heat or draughts which can shorten flowers’ lives and keep flowers away from fruit. Top up the water regularly, add flower food in proportion and remove faded flowers as they occur.
Caring for arrangements:
Never let the green foam dry out. We recommend topping up the arrangement with water daily – remember to protect your furniture by placing something under the arrangement.
